Flash of Memories

Wow my third entry...aren't you all lucky.

Today at the Funeral Home I spoke with the daughter of one of my old bosses, from way back when I was a teenager. The memory that flooded back to me was of my Papaw Clark that passed away in December 2007.

Papaw worked for the Employment Security Division here in Wynne. He helped me get a job with the Cross County Health Department and a summer aide. He was told that I would be a file clerk. I remember the day that he called and was so excited, Katie Bug, I've found you a summer job.

I started that job. My job was to stuff the STD Bags with Condoms.

My Papaw came by to check on me and found out what I was doing and was livid! He marched right in Pat Edwards office and said I thought she was going to be a file clerk! Mrs. Edwards said she is, she's filing condoms. He said That Job is Not Appropriate. Mrs. Edwards said, it is appropriate if she wants a job. I worked the whole summer and was much more educated in the STD department than I ever thought I would be. The look on the faces of my classmates that summer when they came in for the STD bag was priceless. Everyone were not the saints they pretended to be.

I miss my papaw today.
