Mary Margaret called twice yesterday. She called the first time about 2ish and we talked for 59 minutes. I know, if she's in roam, we are in trouble. She talked to Tim and admitted to him that she was really homesick. She did not admit it to me. She is having a great time. I think her problem yesterday was too much time on her hands.
I think I should explain World Changers, some of you may not know just exactly what these kids are doing.
World Changers the mission trip for the youth of Wynne Baptist Church. Wynne Baptist is HUGE on missions. These kids, they took 139, meet up with other youth groups, MM thinks there are about 400, to work. They will be repairing homes in the community during the day and on their breaks they share the testimony with the neighborhood they are working in. What an amazing thing for these young people to do. I just checked Bro. Randy's (our youth minister) Twitter, he said they were eating breakfast at 5:45 and heading for their job sites by 6:30. That will be everyday this week. Every night they will attend a praise and worship and then break off into small groups for devotionals.
Mary Margaret is already experiencing new things. I imagine that almost all of the kids from Wynne Baptist are too. Please know that I'm repeating what a 14 year old said who has only been to white Baptist Churches, that's just the way it still is down here in Arkansas. I asked her how was her day. She didn't like breakfast that much. They went to Church and had a pot luck afterwards. I asked how she liked the church service and there was a long pause. She says "I've never heard a preacher so angry and singing at the same time while he preaches. Bro. Matt has never never been that mad during preaching. He didn't have to worry about me fallin asleep. That preacher was using his STRONG voice for a very very long time." I kind of thought then that maybe she was at a black church, so I asked. She paused and said, "Um, we were the only white people there. Am I in trouble for saying that? Does that make me a bad person?" I told her no, it's fine to tell me where she went and she was just describing it to me that's fine. So, she lites in. She was really fascinated that the preacher sang most of his message and then would be what she thought was angry. She says "He was on fire for everyone Jesus, Jesus Christ, God, God the Father, Jesus the Son, The Holy One, I'm talking everybody"
She had a crew meeting and is paired up with Seth Eakin from WBC, shes been friends with him since 1st grade so she's happy with that. She said he gets to be water boy. They asked her what kind of repair work she knew how to do...you know she had a good response...she made us sound like were are running a child labor camp...she says..."Kaye Kaye I told them that I know how to rip out a bedroom floor, put a new one down and build a deck around a pool. I know how to cut boards, measure, rip up old nails, scrape floors, and pound a nail without hitting my thumb. They are going to let me use my hammer!" She's working on a "Mexican house". She says that she got to go see the house and told her work crew leader "Hey, that's a Mexican stucco house, my uncle does stucco, I'll just call him and we can get him to come repair it for us. He's great." That crew leader just doesn't know what he's got himself into.
So last night she calls about 9:30 right before she has to turn in her cell phone. She wants to say good night. She missed calling us Saturday night because she thought she would get her phone to call right before lights out at 11 so she passed up her phone privileges at 7pm, that was the last call for the night. Anyway...Her voice sounds all scratchy. I ask if she's been to the praise and worship and screamed alot and she said no. I think my throat is getting sore and chokes up. I said please don't cry, is your throat hurting that bad? No my stomach hurts. Now she's really crying hard.(crap I'm gonna cry again while typing) So I joke it up a little and tell her I can smell her breath all the way in Arkansas and she laughs a little, she tells Taylor goodnight, tells Tim goodnight and then I get back on the phone and tell her we love her and that everyone sends their love and she looses it again. She has to turn her phone in now and we get off the phone, I can hear her crying and hiccuping while she's turning the phone off.
Taylor starts rubbing her eyes because I'm crying and Tim starts that nervous laugh he does when I'm upset and he's trying to be strong. He says, Monday we could leave at 12 noon be there in time for dinner, if I wanted to. He says, but I think Mary Margaret would come home and not stay. Is that what you want. See, this is why I love him. He's a good guy OR he's missin Mary Margaret just as much as I do.

awwww...poor Kaye Kaye.... MM is having a great life experience. This will be something she never forgets. But I am sure it is hard! they grow up too fast!
Oh my gosh. SHE DESERVES all of this! The hard work, the time with friends, the time away from home, realization that she can miss her family and they love her and miss her too!
Good Job MM!!
Is this the same WBC that picketed Heath Legers FUNERAL because he played a homosexual cowboy?
In response to Harlow
WBC(if you had read far enough) stands for Wynne Baptist Church. My daughter is on a mission trip helping repair homes for the elderly and people who just can't do the repairs themselves. I am certain that my 14 yearold daughter was not picketing the funeral of Heath Ledger.
Aww hang in there Kaye. This is good for her.
