Waiting is not easy

when you are an 8th grader and in love with a blue eyed, blonde haired 8th grader and you are waiting for that special someone to call at 9pm because nights are free on the cell phones. (she tells me ALOT about his hair and eyes). I felt so sorry for her last night. She waited all day, at 9:00 she puts on makeup, blue eyeshadow (his favorite) and at 9:05 pm, he called. It lasted 3 minutes and she cried and moped around.

I'm thinking, that little twerp broke up with her. (Eyes blazin, steam coming out of the ears, let me at him)

I walk quietly to her room, looked in, she was finishing the makeup job. I ask, MM, did he break up with you? Is that why you are crying?

She says..."No, his mom came in and cut the conversation short because HE DIDN'T FINISH HIS CHORES. I'm so mad. Doesn't she know we needed to say I Love You before we hang up? I'll never be able to sleep now."

Oh, the drama.

Today...
Both girls wanted to drive. Why not, we have nowhere to be today.
Mary Margaret did great. She's learning to keep both hands on the wheel.

Taylor is... wait I'm still shaking...
okay
She peeled rubber ON A GRAVEL ROAD. Seriously. The road looked scared. The squirels ran back up their trees. Dogs tucked their tails and hid. The black eyed susan's bowed their heads and shook with fear.

Then...

we make it home...

Mary Margaret gets out to open the gate. I tell Taylor, this is silly sitting way down here at the road, pull up so she doesn't have to walk so far...

She peels rubber on the 6 feet of gravel at the bottom of our drive just as Mary Margaret turns to walk back to the van... I just knew MM was going to flattened...that was going to be hard to explain, and of course my brake on my side was not WORKING. MM runs back up the hill and I make Taylor slam on the breaks and take a deep breath and start over.

Whew...

Someone pinch me...I still can't believe I'm alive.

Bugs in My Teeth is bored...to her I say...take a teen driving...

Diet update next time...

Wow you're braver than my Mother was with the driving thing - she tried it once and then quickly turned the job over to my Dad because her nerves couldn't take it anymore.

To this I say heck no! THAT isn't entertainment - that is suicide.
