April 10, 2008

This morning the water was higher...big shock! The road is passable, driving in the middle. I have not had any helicopter offers...one of my bosses offered us his upstairs bedrooms that they do not use anymore...what fun that could be. There is another way in (if it does not flood) which would be about 10 extra miles of all gravel.

Tim decided that I should leave my van at home and drive the Nissan Exterra...one of his trucks, just in case the water gets higher...

I'm dying! When was the last time the flooding was like this? How far are you (usually) from the river? We always watch the folks when a hurricane is coming and think, why didn't they leave 2 days ago? Have you sandbagged? Maybe there's denial going on? Won't happen to us, or something?

We were always nervous when we lived back East about our basement flooding, because most did at some point. We were lucky and it never happened. Here, we don't have much of a worry about floods, earthquakes?...now that's a different story. Live right on the fault line, how dumb is that?
