Girls and a Movie

Harlow! Hello! Girl, you always know how to get my blood pressure pumping!
(I almost thought you were the anonymous commenter the other day, then I thought, surely she's read enough to know we are not the family in the movie Virgin Suicides)

I want to explain, I know Nathan's family, they are very good people. We live in a small town, so we know just about everyone. I probably went a little too far with the "name on a double barrel" thing, which made him look like a deer caught in headlight, okay, and maybe taking his picture so I can hunt him later was a little extreme. I'm hoping he didn't tell his parents, but, I think he did. His mother met MM at school yesterday and was impressed with the tactics I took to make sure she was safe on the date. I'm thinking he told.

This morning, I caught Mary Margaret doing Taylor's hair and makeup. Taylor said, "I asked her to fix me up so I can catch me a boy like Nathan". How cute is that? Not as cute as the 4th grade boy that walked up to Taylor the 8th grader and told her she was HOT and that he's been watching her on the bus to the High School everyday. Hmmm. I wonder if Taylor was really trying to look even hotter for the 4th grader?

Now, moving right along.

I never agree with the Oscar Nominations, which is probably why the big dawgs never ask my opinion. We watched a movie this weekend that really hit home with me. Tim and I watched it first, as we do with all Rated R movies, as I watched this movie, I couldn't help but wonder "what if". The name of the movie is "Winter Bone". A 17 year old girl is taking care of her younger brother, sister and her mother. Her dad is a "cooker" and has been missing for several days and has a court day approaching, to which he has put their shack and land up for bail. They will loose it if he doesn't show. This young girl in my book is strong and unbelievable, doing what she has to do, not backing down, to save her little family. It is set in the Missouri backwoods. You can rent it a RedBox. We let the girls watch it. This movie deserves an Oscar, it's extremely honest and raw and the characters were fantastic. The actors, wow. The 17 year old was amazing. The "what if" factor, what if Tim and I had not been able raise them, what if their mother had run off with them, could this be their life?

You may think our life has been glitter and glamour(haha), it hasn't. There was a time when I didn't know if I could stand much more, and it all seemed to happen at once, every corner we turned another wall, family, finances, stress. Laughter. Love. Faith. Prayers. It keeps us going.

We still have our ups and downs. There is always a knot deep inside of worry. Things are 100 times better than they used to be.

I joke a lot.

Faith.

Prayer.

Doing my best to keep all of us together and safe.

These girls and Tim are my world, without them it would be really quiet and lonely.

It's really how I roll.

This blog would be TOTALLY boring without them!

And yet you still haven't said exactly how old this guy is...? He looks to be in his late 20s, which is certainly not appropriate for a young girl like MM.
